Our history

From basement start-up to innovation leader

The story of DINA began in 1987 with an idea, a lot of passion and the courage to break new ground. Dirar Najib, originally from Jordan, came to Germany for his studies and not only found his new home here, but also his professional destiny. As an engineer, he recognized the challenges of automation early on and decided to turn his vision into reality: Safety technology that connects man and machine and creates trust. After years in industry, he decided to set up his own company.

It was clear from the outset: success comes from trust, personal responsibility and shared growth.

Agile and bold into the future

DINA grew organically, but standing still was never an option. Agility and personal responsibility were promoted early on, long before they became standard in the industry. Even back then, Dirar believed in a culture in which people could take responsibility and develop freely. "We don't have bosses, only people in charge," he said. He wanted to create structures that were characterized not by hierarchies, but by cooperation. This attitude shaped DINA from the very beginning and prepared the ground for our subsequent transformation.

When his son Stefan Najib joined the company, he initially had other plans. His passion was film directing, not safe control systems. But Dirar saw things differently: "You are a director, then you can also run a company." Stefan started in marketing, made industrial films and gradually found his way into company management.

Progress through self-organization

Inspired by modern organizational frameworks, Stefan Najib asked himself a key question: How can we rethink collaboration? Agile methods such as Scrum came into play, and it quickly became clear that a single team cannot work in an agile way if the entire company is still thinking in old patterns. A holistic change was needed. Inspired by Holacracy®, DINA repositioned itself: Decision-making paths were shortened, responsibility distributed and transparency created.

2018 saw a decisive turning point: DINA said goodbye to traditional hierarchies and opted entirely for a role-based, self-organized company structure. This bold step was not always easy, but it paid off.

Challenge as an opportunity

DINA was hit by a heavy loss in 2019: Dirar Najib passed away suddenly. But instead of remaining in uncertainty, it was clear to everyone that now was the time for consistent change. The mechanical engineering industry was already in crisis, followed by the global pandemic in 2020. Instead of taking a step back, DINA decided to use the situation as a catalyst for transformation. The economic uncertainties demanded quick decisions. The entire company responded with digitalization, transparency and an even stronger focus on the common goal: creating trust in technology. The result? 2020 was the most successful year in the company's history to date, despite a massive loss of sales.

Today and tomorrow: safety with heart and vision

Today, DINA stands for safety technology that not only sets standards, but also creates genuine trust. But we are more than a company, we are a movement. Our purpose, "Giving humanity trust in technology", drives us to make bold decisions, dare to innovate and create a working environment in which everyone can develop their full potential. From a small cellar in Baden-Württemberg to a growing company. Our journey shows that progress happens when people with passion and vision break new ground together.
